Okay, Rainy Day admits, she's exaggerating just a tad –
there are only 5 stars, but this movie was such a hoot, she hasn't laughed so
much in ages, and besides, it stars Johnny Depp. If you were a fan of the old
series (and who wasn't?) you will enjoy this movie; however, it's not quite as
dark, and the sets aren't as cheesy, the music not as creepy, and condensing a
long series into slightly less than 2 hours.... Johnny Depp is marvelous as
Barnabas Collins, Jonathon Frid – the 'original' Barnabas, made a cameo as a
guest. Rainy Day didn't see him, but she did see Alice Cooper. Rainy Day
doesn't think you need to see the series to enjoy the movie. One laugh after
another, albeit some dark and now and then bloody laughs.
