Pina – A film for Pina Bausch by Wim Wenders

This documentary is about Pina Bausch and the Tanztheater Wuppertal dance company. I do not pretend to understand modern or interpretive dance, but I found this film breathtaking in places. While I would have liked more about her life (she died 2 days before filming began), this piece, or rather collection of pieces, speaks a great deal. I enjoy ballet (another medium I don't understand, but enjoy it), and now I have modern or interpretive dance to add to my enjoyment. The emotions of the dancers came through their movements rather than facial expression, and at times, I would have liked to see the face as part of the dance. The reviews are all over the spectrum, and with good reason. It is, purely, a thing of the heart.

Frankly, I'm getting bored. I will start Season 6 when it comes next year (DVDs are a year behind), but not sure how long I'll stay with it. The sex doesn't bother me, the violence does. And the fact everyone keeps getting killed off. Some I expect, some I don't. One I hoped for didn't happen until the end of the last show. I understand killing off characters, but do they ALL have to die? And, this is fantasy, so will some come back to seek vengeance? I'm not sure I'd recommend the series if you haven't already started it. And even then, I'm not positive. The acting is great, the costumes marvelous, it's the story that is going downhill.
